Gas Pipework Replacement

By Gasmech Services

Project BackgroundDuring an annual gas maintenance visit, Gasmech Services identified a gas leak while carrying out a gas installation tightness test. The source of the leak was traced to severely corroded pipework located on the site roof.Project SolutionGasmech Services attended site and carried out a full system gas-to-air purge to safely isolate the installation. Following completion of the purge, the existing corroded gas pipework was disconnected, sectioned into manageable lengths, and removed from site.New pipework supports were installed, and the affected sections were replaced with new 316 stainless steel pipework and fittings. The upgraded installation was then subjected to strength testing and tightness testing to confirm integrity.A final air-to-gas purge was completed before reinstating the system. All associated appliances were recommissioned and returned to safe operational service.Project ResultThe project successfully restored full heating and hot water services to the site. The remedial works have also provided assurance that the gas pipework system is now leak-free, compliant, and safe for continued operation, giving the client confidence in the integrity of the installation.
