Project BackgroundDuring a late-night emergency call-out, Gasmech Services Ltd identified that the Hamworthy Dorchester unit had developed a split tank, resulting in water leaking into the burner assembly. Due to the extent of the fault and associated risks, the unit was deemed beyond repair and required full replacement.Project SolutionFollowing a successful tender process, Gasmech Services Ltd was awarded the contract to replace the existing unit with a new Hamworthy Dorchester DR-SG gas-fired water heater.The team attended site and commenced strip-out works, removing the existing unit along with associated local pipework and a redundant section of ductwork to accommodate the new installation. The new Hamworthy unit was then carefully positioned, and the gas, cold water, hot water, and secondary return pipework were modified accordingly to suit the new system configuration.In addition, a new pressure reducing valve, expansion vessel, and C13 flue kit were installed as part of the works. Upon completion of the installation and reinstatement of service, the manufacturer attended site to carry out full commissioning, enabling the provision of an extended warranty for the unit.Project ResultThe project was successfully completed, leaving the client with a reliable and efficient hot water system. With the installation of a new, industry-leading unit, the risk of disruption has been eliminated, ensuring a consistent and dependable hot water supply for guests throughout the year.
